This years fete would appear to have been cancelled, although no-one seems to know for sure, it would seem like the age old problem, that lack of helpers and also some problems with the location of site planned for this year, the Pound Field. The question mark over that is that the fete relies heavily on passing visitors, which the Coronation Field is well situated for. I can quite imagine, there are also people put out by the change of situ but we won't go there. So why can not both fields be used the Coronation field holding the side shows and main arena with a bunting lined path through to the Pound field which could hold the Battle Of The Bands and all the larger attractions which can't access the Coronation field, this way you have the best of both worlds and keep twice as many people happy, you'll never please everyone. Also there is a local company in Peasmarsh who has been organising sponsored runs around Rye Harbour Nature Reserve of which there is one planed for August & October, the last one in July had 180 entrants and if supporters had somewhere to spend some time and money, I'm sure it would attract a lot more, so could this not be incorporated into the fete, start and finish, I'm sure the organisers would not have a problem, in fact I'm sure they would welcome it, plus a percentage of the profits go to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, another fact that no-one in Rye Harbour seems to know about. What do you think and can you help save this annual event???
